Relationship types. Instrumental definitions.

Dear all,

I need a clear operational definition of the following types of relationships:
Tweet, Mentions, Replies to, Followed. The conceptual definition is clear, but I dont know how those concepts were operationalized in NodeXL. It´s important a operational definition in order to obtain a proper interpretation of the Twitter graph. There so many ways to implement those relationships. Therefore, without a clear documentation, or a numerical example, I dont know what Im really measuring using nodeXL.... There are some technical and transparent docummentation about this issue?

Best,

Hello!

Thank you for the interest in NodeXL and the Twitter importer.

In the NodeXL Twitter importer edges are labeled in the following ways:
 Followed = @User1 follows @User2

 RepliesTo = @User1 creates an observed message that starts with @User2

 Mentions = @User1 creates an observed message that contains (BUT DOES NOT START WITH) @User2

 Tweet = a message created by @User1 that contains no mention of any other user
A single Tweet can, therefore, generate more than one "Edge". All edges are marked with the Unique Tweet ID from which they were derived should you need to unique them back.

Regards,

Marc
