Loading data from database for vertices and edges

Aug 14, 2014 at 8:06 AM
I have some set of data with relationships (some hierarchical and some graph) in database (SQL Server 2012). I have been using power view to present the data. But as the data grew, I was exploring NodeXL to help me.

However I could not see how to load data from the database queries.

Is there some good way to load the data from power pivot or DB Query?

Hello!

Thank you for the interest in NodeXL.

Excel has a "Data" menu that enables creating SQL queries that are then imported into the workbook.

If you load your queries into the edges worksheet you could query directly from a database.

In some cases you will want to create a denormalized flat file that NodeXL can then renormalize via its NodeXL>Data>Import>From open workbook feature.
