NodeXL without Excel

Mar 12, 2013 at 5:27 AM
Hi,

I wanted to use NodeXL modules without any excel. Can an app use NodeXL features without installing Excel in it?

It will be great if some approach is suggested for the same.

Thanks

Yes. Go to NodeXL's "Downloads" tab at http://nodexl.codeplex.com/releases and look for the latest "NodeXL Class Libraries" release under "Other Downloads."

Is there any plans to release a JavaScript version of NodeXL?

We've talked about various approaches to getting NodeXL graphs on the web, but we haven't had much time to devote to that. We do have an experimental version of an interactive graph on our NodeXL Graph Gallery website -- see http://www.nodexlgraphgallery.org/Pages/InteractiveGraph.aspx?graphID=3447 , for example. That page was created by feeding NodeXL-generated JSON to a JavaScript graph library called Sigma.js. You might take a look at Sigma.js to see if it would work for you.

Thanks! I just ran across the interactive graphs and they look pretty good. I’ll look at Sigma.js - thanks for the pointer.
