Import publication data

Hello NodeXL World!  I'm a complete SNA rookie here, so I would really appreciate your help or pointing me in the right direction.

I am trying to import publication data to study relationship strengths of researchers.  The input files that I can obtain have this kind of format:

Adam, Bruce, Cathy, Joe

Cathy, Fred, Tom, Joe

Henry, Oliver, Joe

where each row being a paper with the co-authors listed. So far I understand that I can manually input the relationships (for the first paper):

Adam Bruce

Adam Cathy

Adam Joe

Bruce Cathy

Bruce Joe

Cathy Joe

Is there a way to streamline this via a macro in Excel or a command in NodeXL?  The amount of data is prohibitive for me to do this all by hand.

Many thanks!

Yes.  See "How to Create an Edge List From a List of Items, Format 3" at

Thanks Tony!  What a brilliant program-- it did exactly what I needed it to do.
