NodeXL's Export Selection to New NodeXL Workbook feature copies selected table rows from one workbook to another. It doesn't use the NodeXL object model at all.
However, there is a method called SubgraphCalculator.GetSubgraphAsNewGraph() in the Smrf.NodeXL.Algorithms namespace. You'll find it listed in the NodeXLApi.chm help file. Here is the description:
"Creates a new graph containing copies of a specified set of vertices and the edges that connect them."
Perhaps you could use that in your application.
