Issue with Twitter search when using advanced parameters?

Oct 9, 2009 at 9:16 AM

When using the Twitter search import, and when the search parameters use Twitter's advanced syntax I get a rate-limiting error.  For example, if I use the search: -

iphone near:"United Kingdom" within:500mi

I get the rate limiting message.  However, if I take off Twitter's advanced syntax, it works OK.

Thanks, Dave.

I just discovered a footnote in the Twitter documentation stating that "near:" can't be used when searching from other programs.  And because "within:" can't be used without "near:", both are prohibited.

In the next version of NodeXL (, the following message will be displayed:

"Although you can use "near:" on Twitter's own search page, Twitter doesn't allow it to be used when searching from another program, such as NodeXL.  Remove the "near:" and try again."

Thanks for reporting the bug.
