NodeXL / Data Security

Apr 13 at 12:13 PM
Hello all,

I am attempting to convince my company to utilized NodeXL, but they have a few concerns.

Once installed, does NodeXL collect the data entered into it?

Does NodeXL connect to any outside network and transmit data entered into the template?

Data security is paramount to our business and the bosses will not sign off unless I can be certain that the template is not collecting the data we throw into it.

Thanks,
Coordinator

Hello!

Thank you for the interest in NodeXL!

NodeXL authorizes itself with our license server at each run time.

No other data is collected from the application.

Users may choose to export their data sets to various targets, including the NodeXL Graph Gallery. This is entirely a user controlled operation.
See: NodeXL > Data > Export
 See: http://nodexlgraphgallery.org
In short, NodeXL and the Social Media Research Foundation do not automatically collect data from user network data sets or any data about NodeXL use (beyond authorizing licenses).

Regards,

Marc (for Team NodeXL)

Thank you for the reply.

I have to ask this question, because my company will likely block outgoing connections.

Will NodeXL function if it can not verify the license?

Apologies if the is a "dumb" question.

Thanks,
