Customizing Vertex Label Fill Colors

I recently downloaded NodeXL to use in creating network charts (for PERT/CPM, not for network visualization). Previously, I had used Cytoscape for this purpose.

I'm trying to play around with formatting, and ran into a problem. I want to have a solid circle vertex, so I chose the "Disk" shape. But, when you specify the color, it seems that the label will follow this color, and have a label background the same as the overall background color.

Looking at my example image, I have black as the background color, and blue as the color for vertex 1. The label "1" follows the vertex color and there is black color around it, which follows the background color.

I want instead to have a white font color without any black background. I tried to change this in "Label Fill Color" under "Labels" in the Vertices worksheet, but it did not work. I also tried to specify the "Fill Color" under Graph Options > Labels > Label Shapes > Fill Color, but again, it did not work.

Is it possible to achieve what I want to do? Thanks in advance!
