Genealogical Analysis

I'm new to the community but I think its all pretty awesome. I used NodeXL in analyzing my facebook friends in my IT class and I was really impressed. I was wondering if I could use the same relational system to analyze my ancestors.

I have a database filled with my ancestors and events in their lives. I want to be able to display this data in a NodeXL kind of way by their life events. For example, when they were married, or received government support.

Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? If its a ridiculous idea and I am just not understanding NodeXL could someone maybe point me in the right direction?

Thank you for the interest in NodeXL!

In a genealogy graph the edge types involved are "Marries", "Mother of", "Father of", "Child of" and "Sibling of".

To represent a nuclear family, we might write the following edges:

Mom, Dad, Married
Dad, Mom, Married
Mom, Child1, Mother of
Mom, Child2, Mother of
Dad, Child1, Father of
Dad, Child2, Father of
Child1, Mom, Child of
Child2, Mom, Child of
Child1, Dad, Child of
Child2, Dad, Child of
Child1, Child 2, Sibling of
Child2, Child 1, Sibling of
