How many edges can NodeXl import?

Dear tcap479! I have a graphml file with more than 3,000 vertices and 100,000 edges. But I find nodexl can only import 52,100 edges. Why? How should I do?

Hello!

Thank you for the interest in NodeXL.

There are several resources that can limit the size of a NodeXL data set. How much RAM is in the system you are using? More RAM is better. 16GB or 24GB is great! Of course, to use more RAM, you will need to use a 64bit OS. What OS version are you using?

Another limit may be the version of Excel you are using, the 2010 and later versions have larger data size capacities. Which version of Excel are you using?

We have had people report success with large data sets on well resourced systems using NodeXL, so I believe your data set should work in NodeXL if it has enough resources.

Doug:

How did you determine that NodeXL can import only 52,100 edges? The resource limits that Marc discussed usually result in "out of memory" messages or other errors. In your case, does NodeXL read 52,100 of the 100,000 edges in your GraphML file and ignore the rest? If so, I would suspect a problem with the GraphML file.
