NodeXL and

I'm new using this tool, and I'm trying to use it with c# in an web application, to render an image as result.

What I need to do is a graph like a family tree, which should start from, for example, top to bottom, or left to right. is it possible to do this with nodexl?

I think I need to avoid automatic layout, but then I don't know how to draw nodes in certain direction.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, and regards.

NodeXL does have an optional layout algorithm called Sugiyama that is meant for hierarchical data.  However, neither NodeXL nor Sugiyama is optimized for trees -- they are optimized for networks -- and I can't help but think that there must be a better solution for you out there.  Have you looked for controls that are meant specifically for trees, family or otherwise?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've been looking for one specific library but I could'n find any, at least not one working on server-side and able to save an image (which is what I need) I found something client-side but is not suitable for my need.

Thank you for your help!
