Novice trying to extract data from a Wiki for working in NodeXL

Sep 24, 2012 at 3:58 PM

I am stumped and overwhelmed to the data structure of a wiki I am assigned to provide analysis and results using NodeXL for a graduate course.

In the Text by Smith, Schneiderman, and Hansen "Analyzing Social Media Networks with NodeXL", in the Wiki chapter  they suggest utilizing web-scraping software to pull data first. Anyone have experience or guidance on any of this effort?? Remember I am the non-tech guy doing this...LOL

One suggestion would be to crawl the Wiki using a VOSON or other web-scraper interface since the Wiki you reference doesn't appear to support MediaWiki API.
