.net development with NodeXl

Jul 3, 2012 at 1:18 PM

Win 7 x64 machine, with Visual Studio 2010

I have added the references to the NodeXL files:

and I have added the

NodeXL.Control to the toolbox.

After I add the control to a WPF project I get the dreded:

"An unhandled exception has occurred:.... details:

Could not load file or assembly 'Smrf.NodeXL.Core, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7d233ba7875a1b76' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Now I'm at a loss as to how to proceed.  I'm new to NodeXl, looks like a fantastic addition to WPF, but??

Did you delete or move the NodeXL assemblies after you added references to them?  That's what it sounds like.  In Visual Studio's Solution Explorer window, expand the References node under your project.  Is there a yellow exclamation point next to Smrf.NodeXL.Core?

Adding references to assemblies in Visual Studio does not make copies of them, so if you delete an assembly after adding a reference to it, you'll get a "Could not load file or assembly" exception at runtime.

By the way, you need to add a reference to Smrf.Node.Layouts as well.  I suspect you just forget to list that in your post.

(I am deleting your second post, which is a duplicate of this one.)
