Convert 2 Mode Matrix to 1 Mode Matrix in NodeXL

May 23, 2012 at 10:14 AM

Hi all,

I am working on a school project which requires me to use NodeXL to analysis on the relations and individual nodes. Currently, I am having 2 columns for Students and Subject of Interest. However, my supervisor advised me to work with 1 Mode Matrix , meaning that I just want to analyse Students-Students relationship tied with same Subject of Interest. Is there a way to do this conversion ?

Thank you .

Not directly in NodeXL.  Maybe someone else has a suggestion for how you might accomplish this.

Hi Tony,

Does anybody know what is the largest data set by far to run for the generation of graph?

Thank you.

Some people have used NodeXL for graphs that have tens of thousands of vertices and edges, but it's not something I recommend.  The program gets very slow and can sometimes run out of memory when you try that.  I generally recommend a maximum of a few thousand vertices and edges for satisfactory performance.
