Getting twitter edge data from Google Social Graph API using Google Spreadsheets

Sep 5, 2011 at 7:57 PM

Hi - I've only recently discovered the joys of NodeXL and really enjoying discovering what it can do. One of the problems I've had is getting large sets Twitter edge data (having problems with built-in twitter api rate handling http://nodexl.codeplex.com/workitem/21425 I'm also very inpatient ;)

Having already done some work in basic twitter network visualisation (Ported: Tony Hirst’s Using Protovis to Visualise Twitter Connections), which uses Google's Social Graph API to get public connections data I've documented this method for Using Google Spreadsheet/Apps Script and Google Social Graph to get Twitter edges for visualizing in NodeXL.

(As Google Social Graph has connection data for other than twitter it would be easy to extend into other areas)

Enjoy!

Thank you, Martin!  I've pointed out your post to the NodeXL team members.  We're always happy to see NodeXL put to new uses.
