Force-direced layout

Can I create a force-directed/spring layout in NodeXL that will help reduce edge crossings?

I have directed edges, but haven't found how to create a force-directed layout.

Thanks!

I assume that you are using the NodeXL Excel Template, and that you are not a programmer asking about using NodeXL in your own application.

In that case, selecting NodeXL, Graph, Layout, Fruchterman-Reingold or Harel-Koren in the Excel ribbon will give you a force-directed layout.  Neither is optimized to reduce edge crossings, though.  There is an additional Layout option, called Sugiyama, that does attempt to reduce edge crossings, although it's slower with large graphs.  You might try experimenting with those three options.

Thanks Tony! I found the layout options that allow you to increase the resistance between nodes, that seems to be the best option.
